International Yoga Day Celebration on 21<sup>st</sup> June 2021

The United Nations has celebrated “International Yoga Day” every year on 21st June since 2015. The resolution for “International Day of Yoga” was proposed by India and endorsed by a record 175 member states through UN resolution. Yoga is India’s ancient tradition and is more than a physical activity.

“International Yoga Day” was celebrated on 21st June, 2021 at Rai University, Ahmadabad between 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM. All the students and staff members had participated in “International Yoga Day”. This event was organized in online and offline mode. Students attended the event online and staff members took part in the event at University. Dr. Pooja Thakar (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Rai University) welcomed Mr. Vidit Zala (Yoga Trainer). All the members were addressed about the theme for this year's International Yoga Day ‘Yoga for Wellness’ which focuses on practicing Yoga for physical and mental well being. He guided various activities related to Yoga like Padmasan, Surya Namaskar, Shirsasan and other Yoga Asanas. He also put emphasis on various body stretching exercises and the importance of warming up before practicing any Yoga Asana. Staff members and students participated enthusiastically and practiced the guided activities. All were feeling very energetic and relaxed after the Yoga session. He encouraged everyone to practice yoga regularly to remain fit and improve concentration. Rai University always motivates its staff members and students to perform such activities with the help of which they can improve their health and focus. Rai University always emphasizes on the physical activities with the help of which the body remains fit and one remains enthusiastic. Over the years, Rai University has arranged many activities related to physical stamina and mental strength.
